Safely Securing Your Blind

Safely Securing Your Blind

12th Jun 2024

There are a lot of questions around the Nex-Level Platforms and Mounts, here you will find some answers to those questions. Whether you have a Maverick or Booner blind, both can fit on the Nex-Level Floor base with a few extra steps. The Elevate Platforms were designed to be universal with both Booner and Maverick blinds in mind.

Preparing Your Materials

For the Nex-Level floor base, you will need to take a trip to your local lumber yard. You'll need:

  • (4) 4x4 posts
  • 2-3 sheets of ¾” plywood, depending on the blind you are placing on the floor base
  • Wood screws for easy securing

If you purchased the ladder system with the floor base, add 2 more 4x4 posts to your list!

Assembling the Floor Base

  1. Frame Assembly: Follow the directions in the manual to assemble the frame.
  2. Plywood Preparation: Before attaching the plywood, measure and cut the ¾” plywood to the exact dimensions of the entire base portion of the blind. These dimensions can be found on the Maverick Hunting website. Note that the Maverick XL, Booner 5-Panel, and Booner 6-Panel will hang over the base, but with proper plywood flooring and support brackets, you should not have any soft spots.
  3. Attaching the Plywood: Secure the plywood to the floor frame base as instructed in the manual.

Securing the Blind

  1. Position the Blind: Place the blind on the measured and attached plywood. The Booner blind will have a 1” internal flange, and the Maverick blinds will have a 2” external flange on the bottom.
  2. Pre-drill Holes: Pre-drill holes in the flanges for simple wood screws to secure the blind to the plywood flooring.
  3. Securing the Blind:
    • For Maverick blinds, use a minimum of 4 securing wood screws (6-8 for better hold).
    • For Booner blinds, use 1-2 securing wood screws on each panel to ensure safety in high wind areas.

Using the Elevate Platforms

If trips to the lumber yard aren’t your favorite thing, consider our Elevate 5 and Elevate 10 platforms. These platforms come with everything you need, eliminating the need for additional trips. However, you may need to stop at the hardware store for U-Bolts to secure your blind to the Elevate platform.

  1. Assemble the Elevate Platform: Follow the included directions. This platform will fit all models of Maverick and Booner blinds.
  2. Securing the Blind to the Platform:
    • Pre-drill holes in the flanges (1” internal for Booner, 2” external for Maverick).
    • Use a minimum of 4 securing bolts, washers, and nuts for Maverick blinds (6-8 for better hold).
    • For Booner blinds, use 1-2 U-Bolts on each panel.

Ground Securing (Non-Elevated Blinds)

If you do not wish to elevate your blind, we still recommend securing it to the ground using the bottom flanges.

  1. Pre-drill Holes: Pre-drill holes in the flanges.
  2. Stake Down: Place tent stakes into the pre-drilled holes and into the ground.

Safety is always our top priority, followed by fun and creating lasting memories!
